#mondaymood: can you leave now ?

The Sanctity of Home

You guard your home; you defend it from unwanted intruders, both physical and otherwise. You invest great amounts of money in it, whether you rent or own it. You decorate it in a way that soothes you, or enlivens you, or reflects you in some way. Inviting someone into your home is a great concession. It says, “I trust you” in some way.

What makes a 'HOUSE' into a 'HOME' it's that welcoming and familiar feeling that we have when we come through the door. The elements that reminds you of your family, the unique smell that you cannot find anywhere else. A place where you feel safe and relaxed.

I am sure that it happened to you to go into someone's house and feel a bit strange for no reason, or on the opposite, feeling unexpectedly good and welcomed. The energy can have a huge impact on our mood so it's essential to raise the energy that we surround ourselves with.

Energy shifts. From people in your homes, from different energy that you vibe, from actions that you take in your home, from the small rituals that you do, etc. Having a good time laughing and gathering with people that bring you joy will deliver that good energy that you vibe. Same goes for having a fight or a conflict with in your home. The energy of anger or sadness will feel your home. Either if you realise it or not, the energy in your home affects you and the ones in your home.

When we create a place that meets our needs and expresses our character, we enrich our lives.

We worry a lot about how our homes look, but how they make us feel, emotionally and physically, is far more important. That costly renovation or those silky sheets matter less than whether our living spaces nourish who we are, buffer us from stress, and provide opportunities both for privacy and for socialising with family and friends.

There’s an invisible life force that flows through every environment, and when that energy moves freely, the space is filled with a vibrant, healthy vitality. But sometimes that flow gets blocked or becomes negative. Maybe you’ve brought stress home from your job, or you’re having frequent negative thoughts or emotions. These can get imprinted in your space and accumulate to create what’s almost like invisible “clutter” that slows down the energy and affects how you feel there.

Our homes are collectors of energy in the same way that they accumulate hoards of stuff. Spending a lot time home lately, which probably it's the case for most of us, for sure added to the vibe of your home. So if you want to add more good vibes into your space and reduce feelings of stuffiness, energy clearing is a good way to start. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach—I alternate between different methods and do it whenever I notice any change in energy (mainly if I’ve had a lot of visitors or any major life events). Here are a few ways to up-level your spring-cleaning and boost positive energy in your home.

AIR - Many modern homes are so tightly sealed that little fresh air can get in, and that creates stagnation. You may be living in an area where the quality of the air may not be the best and even more, quite polluted. Either way, letting the air breeze in, in does more than to fresh your home, but it moves the stagnant energy, which is exactly what we are looking for.

LIGHT - Sun and natural light has a great impact on our health and wellbeing which I have explained more in this post. Make sure to get in your home as much natural light as you possibly can. This will lift up your mood and bring some good energy with those beautiful rays.

PLANTS - In 1989, NASA discovered that houseplants can absorb harmful toxins from the air, especially in enclosed spaces with little air flow. This study has been the basis for newer studies about indoor plants and their air cleaning abilities. While plants have less horse power than air purifiers, they’re more natural, cost effective, and therapeutic.

Sound waves can also purify a space. Just like your favourite song can instantly put you in a good mood, the right music can dust away any bad vibes. Of course there are different frequencies that will affect our brain waves differently but playing your favourite playlist out loud, that will raise your own energy, will do the job. If you are into rituals and that's your way of relaxing and cleaning your energy, then start playing with tibetan or crystal singing bowls. They have different sounds and different frequencies so I would honestly recommend that if you decide to give it a try, get them by yourself in a store rather than ordering online. Have the chance to play with them and see which one it's for you. Also, wind chimes are a good and easy way to shift your energy in your home. Just hang them by the window and let the wind coming in your home to play you a beautiful song every time.

Fire is a purifying force, and it also stimulates the energy to start moving again. Light a fire in the fireplace, or place candles in every room. Smudging, the tradition of burning herbs or incense, can be traced back to some of the world’s earliest cultures and spiritual practices.

Although sage bundles are the most familiar tools for smudging, any herb with associated healing properties—like bay leaf, lavender, or lemongrass—will do the trick.

You’ve probably seen people waving bundles of sage or lighting a piece of palo santo on Instagram or at the beginning of a meditation class. Smudging is an ancient ceremonial practice and has a history of use among Native Americans. It’s a process of burning certain herbs to cleanse and protect a space, and when they start to smoke, it blows away any negative energy.

Although sage bundles are the most familiar tools for smudging, any herb with associated healing properties—like bay leaf, lavender, or lemongrass—will do the trick. You can also use palo santo, which is wood from the Bursar graveolens tree, native to South America and hailed for its healing and cleansing properties.

Crystals have spiritual energy that cleanses, heals and balances your body and mind. They are also used to cleanse negative energy in the atmosphere and protect against negativity.

Selenite, said to circulate good vibes and a sense of peacefulness, is often placed on window sills to bring extra light into the home. When in doubt, grab a black or dark-hued stone and toss it in whichever room needs a good energy scrub.

Black tourmaline, lapis lazuli, hematite and smoky quartz are known for their protective energy and can be placed around your home for cleansing. Each crystal vibrates at various levels and has a specific purpose.

Black tourmaline: This is a grounding crystal and prevents psychic attacks and shields against electromagnetic smog.

Lapis lazuli: This is a good luck stone that attracts abundance and prosperity into your life. Placing them in your home allows positive energy to flow and it awakens spirituality.

Hematite: A crystal with the ability to absorbs toxicity from the environment. Hematite releases stress, anxiety and worry and creates a neutralising effect on your body and home.

Smokey Quartz: Use this crystal to shield your home from electromagnetic a stress. It has a clearing and purifying vibration that eliminates disharmony from the home.

Engage in activities that bring you joy - have a party, gather together people who you will know that will make you laugh and raise your energy, dance, play a fun game with your kids, get intimate with..whomever you rock, lights that fire and it turns it out loud.

Whatever works for you, do it boo!
